Fertility MasterLAB: Behind the Scenes with an Embryologist IVF stands for ‘Invitro Fertilization’ or fertilization of an egg outside of the human body in a petri dish. While a fertility physician is instrumental in putting together a plan, the embryologist is hard at work behind the scenes. An embryologist is qualified and trained to care for human eggs, sperm and embryos. Their role in the IVF process is critical and they are heavily involved with the clinical staff in planning and organizing a patient's treatment. At PFC, we have an amazing team of 9 full time embryologists that are trained under our lab director, Dr. Joe Conaghan. Hear about what happens in an embryology lab and the role of an embryologist from Joe Conaghan, PhD.
Dr. Conaghan has over two decades of experience in the field of Embryology and is Board-Certified High-complexity Clinical Laboratory Director in the disciplines of Embryology and Andrology. In his free time Joe enjoys reading non-fiction book and spending time with his family.
