Pacific Fertility Egg Bank's 4th Anniversary: Celebrating Our New Two Blastocyst Embryo Guarantee Program

Posted on September 13, 2016 by Inception Fertility

Less uncertainty. With PFEB’s Blastocyst embryo guarantee, patients experience less uncertainty. Unlike other egg banks that only offer cohorts of frozen eggs, Pacific Fertility Egg Bank's program is developed to provide “ease of mind” by offering the assurance of receiving two cryopreserved blastocyst embryos. Patients no longer need to worry about the number of eggs needed, if the eggs will survive warming (thawing), and whether they will develop into usable embryos.

Greater convenience. Another great advantage of our frozen donor egg program is that donor and recipient menstrual cycles do not require synchronization. The donor’s eggs have already been retrieved and are ready for immediate use. Patients can schedule a frozen embryo transfer at a time that is most convenient for them, once two blastocyst embryos have been created and cryopreserved.

Quality control. PFEB is the first free standing egg bank in Northern California providing all technical services under one roof—from egg freezing and thawing to fertilization and embryo transfer. Having everything under “one roof” allows patients to avoid the unknown effects of freezing, transporting, and thawing eggs from different laboratory facilities.

Less expense. Traditional fresh donor egg cycles can be quite costly, sometimes upwards of $50,000 or more, and can often yield more embryos than patients intend to use. By using frozen donor eggs through PFEB, patients are guaranteed to receive 2 cryopreserved blastocyst embryos for roughly half the cost of using fresh donor eggs.

Large database of donors. Patients have the opportunity to select from among a large and diverse group of donors. We currently have about 45 donor profiles with frozen eggs ready for selection and immediate use, and we are always adding more donors. All these donors are thoroughly screened for a wide range of medical and genetic disorders. In addition, we provide background information about each donor’s personal history, education, occupation, and family history.

Great results. Using cutting edge thawing techniques, our embryo thawing survival rate is 95% and our current pregnancy rate is 60% per transfer event. Most of our patients transfer one embryo at a time, also known as elective single embryo transfer (eSET). The second guaranteed embryo can be kept frozen for use at a later time, if needed or desired. We are also happy to share that to date we have 80 babies born through the use of PFEB’s frozen donor eggs and have many more on the way.

We are proud to be celebrating our four year anniversary and look forward to continuing our efforts in building families – one healthy baby at time. To learn more, contact Pacific Fertility Egg Bank.
