Dr. Waud Discusses her Personal Journey into Fertility Medicine
Dr. Kay Waud, MD PhD, is a board-certified Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility sub-specialist. After receiving her PhD from Chalmers University of Technology, she worked at NICHD followed by Cedars Sinai Hospital as a research fellow. Her love for science and personal passion for women’s health led her to pursue a medical degree at UC San Diego.
She completed her REI fellowship at the prestigious Jones Institute where the first baby in the USA was conceived with IVF. During her fellowship, she was awarded research grants to conduct studies on vitamin D deficiency among male infertility patients and a randomized controlled trial comparing treatments for women with heavy menstrual bleeding.
More recently, Dr. Waud was involved in academia and research. Between 2016 and 2022, she was a clinical faculty of OB/GYN at Georgetown University. Her clinical research focuses on improving clinical IVF outcomes, by studying endometrial receptivity assay and endometrial micro biome prior to a single euploid embryo transfer.
Dr. Waud has been seeing patients in the Washington DC area since 2016. She was nominated “Top Doctor” for Infertility by Washington Magazine. Patients describe her as a compassionate, dedicated, and innovative physician. Dr. Waud understands the journey to build a family can be very lengthy and she is honored to walk with patients through every step of the journey.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Waud enjoys outdoor activities, such as sailing and skiing. She also treasures time spent with her family.
