Zuckerberg Miscarriage; PFC Responds

Posted on August 6, 2015 by Inception Fertility

Carolyn Givens, MD gave her expert opinion on the subject of miscarriage in light of the recent announcement that Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are expecting a baby. The Facebook CEO also announced that his wife, age 30, had three miscarriages during their journey to pregnancy. Zuckerberg said in his Facebook announcement, "We hope that sharing our experience will give more people the same hope we felt and will help more people feel comfortable sharing their stories as well."

Dr. Givens weighed in on the facts about miscarriage, saying, "What most people don't realize is how common miscarriage is...most of the time it's because the embryo itself doesn't have everything it takes chromosomally or otherwise to make it to live birth, so this is nature's way of taking care of it."
